About the role
The Platform Engineer provides high-level technical support for a cloud-hosted Microservice and Event Driven Platform. The position focuses on maintaining scalability, automation, and performance across REST APIs and microservices. The role involves building secure, reliable, and efficient platform components that support continuous improvement and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain in-depth technical knowledge of systems and services.
Contribute to technical standards, procedures, and support documentation.
Build and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant, and secure platform components.
Automate workflows to improve operational efficiency and consistency.
Prioritise and resolve technical issues within expected timeframes.
Provide guidance and hands-on support to promote Cloud best practices.
Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure appropriate testing coverage.
Identify and escalate risks, issues, and improvement opportunities.
Manage and document complex changes in line with ITIL standards.
Maintain governance, compliance, and security across all platform components.
Keep support documentation, diagrams, and training materials current.
Manage lifecycle patching for tools such as EKS, Trivy, Fluentbit, Kube-bench, Metric Server, and Nginx Ingress.
Perform other relevant duties as directed.
Highly desirable criteria
AWS Associate or Professional level certification.
Experience across both public and private sector environments.
Desirable criteria
Experience with lifecycle patching for microservice environments.
Knowledge of Cloud environment security best practices.
Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
Skills and experience
Proficiency in at least one of the following: Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka, or AWS.
Experience supporting and maintaining Cloud-based microservice platforms.
Strong understanding of automation and DevOps principles.
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team setting.
Experience applying ITIL standards in change and incident management.
