Overview

The Project Manager will work in close partnership with all business units of the Department to:

  • Oversee and manage designated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) projects, including project plans and documentation, communication plans and vendor contracts.
  • Deliver project management services, including change management processes and business analysis by collaboratively planning, delivering, and implementing project and activity outputs in line with Hospitals and ICT strategies.
  • Identify and understand business needs, issues and challenges and specify solutions (people, processes, and technology) that meet business requirements and deliver measurable benefits.
  • Manage and drive the delivery of ICT solutions into the live environment, liaising and working collaboratively with vendors, impacted clinics/departments, ICT Managers and Services, and other potential internal and external service providers.
  • Work with project sponsors for the timely delivery of agreed project outputs to ensure project benefits are realised.
  • Drive the effective transition and management of ICT initiatives, changes and/or solutions into ‘live’ operations through effective change and stakeholder management.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead, plan and deliver designated projects in consultation with key stakeholders and in accordance with Government standards and policies.
  • Develop and manage project schedules including the production of contract and project initiation documentation, communication plans, vendor contracts, risks, and issues registers, change management processes and plans, and other key project documentation.
  • Provide regular and ad hoc reporting to steering committees, project governance groups and identified stakeholders to achieve and maintain successful engagement
  • Undertake vendor and contract management including tracking adherence of vendor to business requirements, including specifications, costs, and timeframes.

Skills and experience

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead projects for the implementation of complex information systems, together with extensive experience in the development and management of information system projects including sound understanding of project management guidelines such as the Government Project Management Guidelines, the PMBOK Guide and/or PRINCE2.
  • Proven high level strategic, conceptual, analytical, and creative skills and the ability to develop and make sound judgments about the application of information and communication technologies.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and flexibility with the ability to exercise initiative to achieve results whilst working within a challenging work environment subject to pressure and change.
