About the role

Our state government client is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support a newly multiyear program focused on improving graduate pathways and supporting meaningful public sector careers.

Key responsibilities

• Working within the Strategic Workforce Futures team and reporting to the Program Manager, the Senior Business Analyst will:
• Identify business and technical requirements through a range of techniques to ensure solutions maximise a graduate’s experience, deliver sector benefits and meet agency needs.
• Identify inefficiencies in current processes and develop optimised future state processes.
• Develop customer journey maps, personas and/or empathy maps to understand the graduates’ experience through the future process.
• Test solutions with graduates and partner agencies and iteratively improve the design based on feedback.
• Prepare agencies for changes by developing communication, training and support plans, ensuring a smooth transition to new processes and systems.
• Maintain clear and detailed documentation of processes, design decisions, stakeholder feedback and user research findings.
• Work collaboratively with the Strategic Workforce Team and support the Project Manager to define scope, success criteria and successfully deliver on the projects outcomes.
• Proactively engage with key stakeholders, lead and conduct business and technical workshops and meetings to elicit and define the future-state requirements based on best practice standards.
• Develop and implement a testing strategy, including a comprehensive suite of test cases and supporting documentation.
• Supporting developers and procurements specialist as required.
• Supporting the measurement of benefits and evaluations.

Skills and experience

• 8+ years of experience as a business analyst, working across Government and commercial clients
• Experience in contributing to change programs, preferably within the context of human resources or business improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience in gathering and documenting requirements, process mapping, assisting in the preparation of business cases and supporting program/project initiation activities
• Extensive experience in facilitation of workshops and activities to elicit details business requirements, supported by strong written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of both agile and traditional waterfall project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
• Support capability uplift business analyst activities across the agency as directed.
• High level of experience using Microsoft suite of products including MS Projects, Power BI and Power automate.
