Overview

We are working with the largest rail freight operator, this ASX-listed heavy-haul transport and logistics company plays a critical role in the nation’s supply chain by moving more than millions of tonnes of regional commodities each year. Operating an extensive national network across multiple states, the business connects domestic producers, miners, and industrial sectors with global markets by transporting coal, bulk minerals, agricultural products, and containerised freight.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced environment providing business analysis expertise across a diverse portfolio of continuous improvement requests, minor works, and strategic projects.
Based within our dynamic Technology team, you will support key technology initiatives by acting as the vital bridge between business operations and technical delivery. You will regularly engage with key business stakeholders to validate and document business requirements, collaborating closely with technical teams to ensure there is sufficient detail for accurate scope estimates.

Operating within a highly collaborative, cross-functional team of professionals, you will utilise Scrum and Kanban Agile methodologies to deliver practical, high-impact solutions across all areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• As a Business Analyst, your critical deliverables will include:
• Requirement Definition: Liaising directly with stakeholders to define clear, robust requirements used to scope, estimate effort, and determine project deliverables.
• Options Assessment: Working alongside technical resources to explore, determine, and critically assess potential solution options.
• Documentation: Producing and presenting clear, succinct, and high-quality documentation for all analysis performed.
• Process Design: Critically assessing current-state documentation and actively contributing to future-state process design.
• Stakeholder Management: Maintaining a strong connection between the business and project teams to ensure expectations are effectively managed and met.
• Testing & UAT Support: Assisting stakeholders in facilitating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities, including the creation of test cases and scenarios, providing hands-on support where required.
• Deployment & Handover: Assisting during solution go-lives and facilitating a smooth, structured handover to support teams.
• Flexible Delivery: Working with a high degree of autonomy or collaboratively within a group delivery framework as required.

Highly Desirable Criteria

• To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience working within IT streams in a dedicated Business Analyst capacity, explicitly including experience within software development or Agile teams.
• Strong experience working within cross-functional teams utilising Scrum and Kanban methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proven ability to listen actively and ask the right questions to extract high-quality information.
• Superb communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate complex business and operational requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Proven experience in the planning, scoping, and execution of testing and UAT activities.

Desirable Criteria

• High-level business engagement, change management, training, and communication skills to help support stakeholders through technology adoptions.
• Experience operating independently in a fluid, fast-paced corporate environment.
