About the role

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Solution Architect to lead the review and enhancement of an enterprise-scale Azure data and analytics environment. This role will play a key part in expanding data capability, strengthening governance, and enabling the delivery of a strategic data, analytics, and AI roadmap within a large, public sector organisation. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, technical specialists, and platform providers to assess the current state, design future-state architecture, and ensure the environment supports advanced analytical and AI-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct an independent assessment of the organisation’s Azure data architecture and its alignment with strategic objectives.

• Design and document current-state and target-state architecture artefacts, including conceptual and logical solution designs, data integration and information models.

• Engage with stakeholders and external partners to gather requirements, validate findings, and ensure solution alignment.

• Provide guidance on Azure security, governance, networking, and access control standards in line with enterprise architecture principles.

• Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions and produce clear technical documentation to support ongoing platform development and continuity.

• Ensure solutions adhere to best-practice architecture, cybersecurity, and government compliance frameworks.

Skills and experience

• Proven experience in a Cloud Solution Architect or Solution Consultant role, preferably within complex enterprise or government environments.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure Data services (e.g., Fabric, Data Factory, SQL Server).

• Deep understanding of core Azure infrastructure (e.g., Entra ID, Active Directory, IAM, networking, Storage Accounts).

• Experience with automation, scripting, and secure cloud architecture design.

• Familiarity with Azure AI tools such as AI Foundry and Machine Learning Studio.

• Ability to produce architectural artefacts, diagrams, and deliver technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Desirable

• Experience working with analytics or data platform programs in the public sector.

• Knowledge of government enterprise architecture frameworks and cloud governance standards.

• Certifications in Microsoft Azure Architecture, Data Engineering, or Security (e.g., AZ-305, DP-203, SC-100).
