About the role

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Cyber Security Administrator / Cyber Security Specialist to support the implementation and enhancement of technical controls aligned to the Essential 8 framework. This role is critical to strengthening our cyber resilience and ensuring compliance with best practices in line with the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of the Essential 8 uplift project.
• Implement and configure security controls, including application whitelisting, system hardening, and multi-factor authentication.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure configurations of systems and applications.
• Monitor and report on the organisation’s compliance with the Essential 8 maturity model.
• Provide technical support and guidance to stakeholders on cyber security best practices.
• Collaborate with business units to identify and manage risks associated with new technologies, business processes, or products.

Highly desirable

• Proven experience in system administration or cyber security administration roles.
• Demonstrable experience with security frameworks and standards, particularly the ACSC Essential 8.
• Hands-on experience with the implementation and configuration of security technologies, primarily Microsoft based.
• Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and vulnerability management.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
