About the role
Our government client is looking for a Data Analyst to support a major data migration initiative within a large-scale transformation program. You will work hands-on to transition data from legacy and operational systems into a modern enterprise data platform.
You will focus on data discovery, source analysis, and migration readiness. You will work closely with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and delivery teams to understand existing data and translate it into clear migration requirements.
You will play a key role in ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and fitness for purpose within the target cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct data discovery across legacy and operational systems to understand structures, entities, and relationships
- Engage stakeholders and SMEs to capture business rules, definitions, and data concepts
- Analyse data flows, interfaces, and source system logic
- Develop and maintain detailed source to target mappings with transformation logic
- Perform data profiling to identify quality issues, gaps, and inconsistencies
- Define data quality, validation, and reconciliation rules
- Support migration planning including dependencies, sequencing, and risks
- Investigate and resolve data issues during migration and testing
- Produce clear documentation for both technical and non technical audiences
- Provide analytical insights to support project decision making
Highly desirable criteria
- Experience supporting large-scale data migration or system replacement programs
- Strong hands-on SQL skills for data interrogation, validation, and analysis
- Experience with source system analysis, data discovery, and profiling
- Strong understanding of data entities, relationships, and dependencies
- Experience working with non-technical stakeholders and translating business needs
Desirable criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Knowledge of data storage and data warehousing solutions
- Certifications or formal training in Data Management or Data Analysis
Skills and experience
- 5+ years experience in data analysis within complex enterprise environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to translate business requirements into data migration artefacts
- Strong documentation skills with attention to detail
- Experience working across cross functional delivery teams
- Ability to analyse legacy systems and interpret data logic
