About the Role
The Data Architect is responsible for designing, creating, and managing the structure, storage, use, integration, and overall management of data within IT systems. This role involves overseeing the development and implementation of data strategies, governance, and resource management, ensuring alignment with business objectives and project goals. The Data Architect will conduct data modeling, analyse system integrations and data flows, and collaborate with developers, data resources, and senior stakeholders to support the development of new business systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Make recommendations on Data Strategy, including seeking to mature data practices and evolve the use of data;
- Provide expert input to the development of physical data models regarding to best practices, security, database performance, future proofing its design;
- Review and quality assure the data models (conceptual, logical and physical) produced by the data analysts, so they are fit for purpose to support scrum builds;
- Collaborate with Solution Architects and Technology Leads to the strategy and implementation of integration points (data exchanges) between systems;
- Administer metadata repositories for the development of all data models and Data Dictionaries;
- Performing additional duties or assume responsibility of functions as directed by the supervisor from time to time;
- Participating in Performance discussions as required by the supervisor.
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrated experience in developing complex physical data models.
- Demonstrated experience in porting data from different data models, documenting the necessary mappings and transformations.
- Demonstrated ability to write complex SQL to support data analysis and specification of data migration requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to write technical specification documents, specifically regarding to ETL for data migrations.
- Experience developing and implementing data strategies and frameworks.
- Advanced skills in data tools including SQL, Power BI and Sparx Enterprise Architect (highly desirable).
Desirable Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science or a related field.
