    About the role

    We are seeking an experienced System Analyst to support a critical HR and payroll environment, with a strong focus on AscenderPay and associated time and attendance systems. This role is operational in nature, centred on incident management, service requests, and ensuring the continuity, accuracy and integrity of HR and payroll services.

    This is a hybrid role, requiring three days in the office and two days working from home.
     

    Key responsibilities

    • Triage, diagnose and resolve incidents raised against AscenderPay and associated time and attendance systems, ensuring continuity of payroll and workforce management services.
    • Action service requests including user access, configuration updates, timesheet corrections, award and roster rule adjustments, and other operational HR system changes.
    • Support time capture, rostering and attendance processes, ensuring accurate flow of time data into AscenderPay for payroll processing.
    • Investigate time and attendance data discrepancies (such as missing shifts, incorrect award interpretation, or failed imports/exports) and work with HR and business units to resolve issues.
    • Monitor and maintain system integrations between timekeeping solutions, AscenderPay and downstream HR/Finance systems to ensure reliable data transfer.
    • Use SQL to query underlying databases to validate data, identify anomalies and diagnose data quality or integration issues.
    • Perform root-cause analysis on recurring issues and contribute to system and process improvements across payroll, rostering and attendance functions.
    • Collaborate with HR, Payroll, Corporate Systems and DBS teams to refine requirements, validate changes and coordinate escalations with vendors where required.
    • Document system procedures, known issues and workarounds to support a consistent and informed operational support function.
    • Ensure data governance and compliance when handling employee time, attendance and payroll information.

     

    Highly desirable criteria

    • Proven hands-on experience supporting AscenderPay.
    • Strong HR and payroll systems background (non-negotiable).
    • Solid working knowledge of SQL for data analysis and issue investigation.

     

    Desirable criteria

    • Experience supporting time and attendance or rostering systems.
    • Exposure to system integrations between HR, payroll and finance platforms.
    • Experience working in a service-oriented or operational support environment.

    Skills and experience

    • Demonstrated experience in triaging and resolving system incidents and service requests.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct effective root-cause analysis.
    • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across technical and business teams.
    • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
    • Understanding of data governance, privacy and compliance principles in HR systems.
