About the role

An exciting opportunity is available for a JavaScript / Python Developer to contribute to the design and development of a new online customer portal within a large Queensland Government environment. This short-term contract focuses on building proof-of-concept solutions, particularly around digital identity and secure customer-facing features, that will help shape the future replacement of an existing online platform. You’ll be working on modern, cloud-based solutions that support a secure, intuitive and client-centric digital experience, while collaborating with architects and technical stakeholders to explore innovative technical approaches.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop front-end and back-end applications aligned to defined solution architecture and use cases
• Build and prototype proof-of-concept solutions to support a modern online customer experience
• Perform quality assurance testing to ensure solutions meet minimum viable product standards
• Document applications clearly and commit code to the organisation’s source code repository
• Work independently to deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes

Highly desirable criteria

• 3–5 years’ experience developing with JavaScript and Python
• Strong experience with NodeJS and FastAPI frameworks
• Proven capability developing both front-end and back-end applications
• Hands-on experience deploying solutions to Azure infrastructure
• Previous experience working within a government or regulated environment

Desirable criteria

• Exposure to deploying solutions on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP)
• Experience contributing to digital identity or secure customer-facing platforms
• Familiarity with agile delivery practices and rapid prototyping

Skills and experience

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
• Experience documenting code and using Git-based repositories (GitHub)
• Comfortable working in short-term, outcome-focused delivery engagements
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
