About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Business Analyst to support the National Variety Trials (NVT) platform and associated digital initiatives.
The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, solution architects, developers, data engineers and vendors to analyse business needs, define business and technical requirements, and support delivery of modern digital solutions.
The role requires strong analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex business needs into clear and actionable requirements. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across business and technical teams, contributing to evolving ways of working and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate requirement discovery workshops and stakeholder interviews.
- Gather, analyse and document business and technical requirements.
- Develop user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows and supporting documentation.
- Document system integrations, data flows, business rules and reporting requirements.
- Work with solution architects and technical teams to support solution design activities
- Support testing, validation, defect triage and stakeholder acceptance activities.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, delivery teams and external vendors.
- Communicate complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and modern delivery practices.
Technical Skills
- Enterprise Applications: Understanding of common corporate/enabling systems (e.g., ERP/finance, HRIS, procurement, document management) and how they support end-to-end processes.
- Delivery Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and/or waterfall delivery, and the role of analysis within each (backlog, refinement, acceptance, governance).
- Process Controls and Compliance: Applied knowledge of risk/control considerations and record-keeping obligations relevant to corporate processes (e.g., approvals, delegations, auditability).
- Data Concepts: Understanding of master data, data quality, and reporting concepts sufficient to define information needs and support meaningful measures.
- Information Flows and Integrations: Ability to understand and document interfaces, data flows and handoffs between systems and teams to support end-to-end process outcomes.
- Analysis Tooling: Proficiency with tools to support analysis and delivery (e.g., Microsoft 365, Visio or similar, Jira/DevOps boards, and documentation repositories).
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Understanding of software testing methods, including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Technology Awareness: General awareness of cloud services and modern platforms sufficient to inform requirements, constraints and non-functional needs.
- Privacy and Security Awareness: Understanding of information security and privacy considerations to ensure requirements and process designs support safe handling of information.
Soft Skills
- Ability to analyse complex business problems and develop effective solutions.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information using a diverse range of media, including demonstrating software solutions, to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage varying work cadences and instinctively operate immersively within teams to develop and support capability without becoming an effort overhead upon the business.
- Demonstrate a service-oriented approach, motivated, good initiative and a self-starter.
- A flexible, adaptable and resilient approach, with the ability to preserve in ambiguous situations and deal with stakeholders with conflicting views.
