About the role

Our federal government client is delivering an enterprise reporting capability to bring together data from multiple disparate systems into a single, trusted reporting environment. As the Data Engineer, you will join a small agile team and take ownership of data from source systems through to user facing reports. You will play a key role in building scalable data pipelines and delivering high quality Power BI reporting to support business decision making.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain data pipelines using Microsoft technologies including SSMS and Azure Data Factory
• Extract, transform and load data from source systems into the enterprise reporting platform
• Engage with SMEs and stakeholders to gather and document business requirements and business rules
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions within data pipelines
• Develop and enhance Power BI reports for business users
• Conduct testing with business users and refine reporting outputs
• Contribute to agile team ceremonies and collaborate closely with technical and business team members

Highly Desirable Criteria

• Strong hands-on experience with SSMS, Azure Data Factory and Power BI in enterprise environments
• Proven experience delivering end-to-end data solutions from source system through to reporting layer
• Experience developing data models and optimising performance for reporting

Desirable Criteria

• Experience working within government or regulated environments
• Experience contributing to enterprise reporting or data platform uplift initiatives
• Familiarity with agile delivery frameworks

Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated experience in data engineering and report development using Microsoft technologies including SSMS, Azure Data Factory and Power BI
• Proven ability to engage effectively with both technical and business stakeholders
• Experience in business analysis and or data analysis, including clear documentation of requirements and business rules
• Experience working within a small agile team environment
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex data concepts into business-friendly language
