About the role
We are seeking an experienced Principal Project Manager to lead the delivery of a large-scale digital health initiative focused on improving the way referrals and requests for advice are managed across Queensland’s healthcare system.
You will be responsible for delivering a secure, scalable and interoperable digital platform that replaces legacy referral processes, improves communication between healthcare providers, and supports equitable access to care. This role requires strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and governance experience, along with expertise in digital health integration, privacy, cybersecurity and project delivery within complex ICT environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of a complex ICT project.
- Define project scope, objectives, schedules and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain project plans, governance frameworks and reporting.
- Provide strategic advice to ensure project outcomes align with organisational standards and architecture.
- Manage project risks, issues, dependencies and resource allocation.
- Coordinate vendors and multidisciplinary delivery teams.
- Engage with senior stakeholders and governance boards to support informed decision making.
- Lead stakeholder engagement across multiple business areas.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, cybersecurity and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor project progress, quality, budgets and timelines.
- Mentor and lead project team members to achieve successful delivery outcomes.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience delivering large-scale ICT or digital transformation initiatives.
- Experience within the healthcare sector.
- Knowledge of digital health integration and interoperability.
- Understanding of information governance, privacy and cybersecurity principles.
- PRINCE2 or other recognised project management certification.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Project Management, ICT, Business or a related discipline.
- Queensland “C” Class Driver Licence.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex ICT projects from initiation through to implementation.
- Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, relationship management and influencing skills.
- Experience applying recognised project management methodologies, preferably PRINCE2.
- Strong governance, planning, scheduling and reporting capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven negotiation, facilitation and consultation experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing project risks, budgets, resources and dependencies.
- Ability to work effectively within large and complex organisational environments.
