About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Head of Program Delivery to lead a large-scale Human Capital Management System transformation program. This senior leadership role is responsible for the successful delivery of multiple program workstreams, ensuring business outcomes, milestones, budgets, and benefits are achieved.

You will provide strategic leadership across the program, oversee delivery teams and Senior Project Managers, and act as the key delivery advisor to executive stakeholders. The role requires a strong background in complex HCM and payroll transformation programs, with experience delivering enterprise HR solutions in large and complex environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all program workstreams, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and delivery of agreed business outcomes.
  • Establish delivery priorities and drive accountability across program teams.
  • Take ownership of program planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring outcomes are achieved within approved scope, schedule, budget, quality, and benefits targets.
  • Identify and resolve delivery risks, issues, and impediments to maintain program momentum.
  • Establish and maintain effective governance frameworks, including reporting, risk and issue management, escalation processes, and program controls.
  • Prepare high-quality governance and steering committee packs and ensure timely reporting.
  • Lead Senior Project Managers and delivery teams, providing direction, coaching, and support to achieve consistent delivery standards.
  • Foster collaboration across multiple business and technical teams to achieve program objectives.
  • Act as the primary delivery advisor to senior executives, providing strategic advice, delivery forecasts, progress updates, and risk assessments.
  • Support executive decision-making through the provision of accurate and timely delivery information.

Highly desirable criteria

  • Extensive experience leading large and complex Human Capital Management System and payroll transformation programs.
  • Strong experience delivering cloud-based HR solutions, particularly SAP SuccessFactors.
  • Deep understanding of payroll operations, including:
  • Legislative and industrial compliance.
    • Award and EBA interpretation.
    • Complex pay rules.
    • Leave and entitlement management.
    • Payroll testing and parallel pay runs.
  • Proven experience establishing governance frameworks and leading cross-functional teams within large transformation programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage program-level budgets, reporting, and benefits realisation.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience working within government or other highly regulated industries.
  • Prince2, PMP, or equivalent project management certification.
  • SAP SuccessFactors certification or other relevant HRIS certifications.

Skills and experience

  • Extensive experience delivering enterprise-scale business transformation programs.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing senior project managers and multidisciplinary delivery teams.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior executives and navigate complex organisational environments.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and sound decision-making skills.
  • Strong governance, risk management, and reporting capability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to commence within the required timeframe.
