About the role
Our state government client is looking for a Project Manager with experience managing spatial or IT projects.
The Department is going to be replacing a critical spatial system (two long running public facing mapping applications that are approaching the end of their life cycle after a decade in operation). We are looking to bring on a Project Manager part-time to oversee the project and ensure the vendor is meeting milestones.
- For this project, spatial services will be able to fill in some of gaps in spatial expertise. What we do need, however, is a specialist Project Manager, as this is a high value project for the department with many internal and external stakeholder, and system dependencies.
- There may be some elements of Change Management required by the Project Manager towards the end of the project as we transition from the old system.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the replacement of critical spatial systems.
- Monitor project schedule, budget, scope, and deliverables.
- Ensure the project is on track and within defined parameters.
- Collaborate with the vendor to establish and track milestones.
- Address and resolve issues with the vendor.
- Ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicate project progress, issues, and changes.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and align with project goals.
- Utilize spatial services to enhance project outcomes.
- Fill gaps in spatial expertise as needed.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Proactively address issues impacting project success.
- Implement change management strategies, especially towards project completion.
- Facilitate the transition from the old to the new system.
- Efficiently manage project tasks within the allocated part-time commitment.
- Ensure delivered spatial systems meet quality standards and departmental requirements.
