About the role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a large-scale capability improvement initiative focused on wireless traffic sensor technologies. This project plays a critical role in enhancing the organisation’s ability to capture, manage, and utilise real-time travel data. You will be responsible for modernising data transfer systems, improving operational efficiency, and shaping future requirements for long-term technology contracts.

This is a 12-month contract based in Brisbane CBD, with a possible 12-month extension.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support the successful delivery of the Wireless Traffic Sensors (WTS) capability improvement project and its work packages.
• Collaborate closely with vendors, technical teams, and internal stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet organisational needs.
• Gather, refresh, and document clear business requirements.
• Facilitate effective communication between technical teams, vendors, and business units.
• Proactively manage risks, issues, conflicts, and project priorities.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules.
• Provide timely and accurate reporting on project progress.
• Develop high-quality project artefacts, including business and technical requirements to support procurement activities.

Highly desirable criteria

• Experience working within intelligent transport systems or similar large-scale technology environments.
• Background in government or public-sector ICT projects.
• Demonstrated capability in vendor engagement and contract-related deliverables.

Desirable criteria

• Familiarity with real-time and batch data transfer systems or sensor-based technology solutions.
• Understanding of system integration challenges, data latency, and operational performance issues.
• Exposure to modernisation or optimisation projects within complex ICT environments.

Skills and experience

• Proven experience in end-to-end project management.
• Strong understanding of Queensland Government ICT policies and frameworks.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills.
• A successful track record of delivering complex projects within agreed timeframes.
