About the role
We are seeking an experienced ICT Project Manager to join a Queensland Government team responsible for supporting, maintaining and enhancing critical human resources technology solutions.
This role will lead the ongoing delivery, optimisation and improvement of two enterprise complaints management applications, ensuring they remain secure, scalable, user-focused and aligned with organisational objectives. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors and leadership groups to deliver effective ICT outcomes within a complex government environment.
This is a contract opportunity based in Brisbane CBD, commencing 3 August 2026 through to 30 June 2027, with the possibility of extension.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the support, maintenance, enhancement and ongoing delivery of enterprise ICT applications.
- Manage project activities across the full project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, delivery, implementation and closure.
- Coordinate and prioritise incidents, service requests, enhancements and minor releases.
- Manage system upgrades, patches, maintenance activities and production releases with minimal business disruption.
- Work collaboratively with technical teams, vendors and business stakeholders to resolve issues and deliver continuous improvements.
- Maintain project documentation, system processes, governance artefacts and compliance requirements.
- Develop and manage enhancement roadmaps aligned with business priorities and technology strategies.
- Monitor system performance, identify risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate testing, change management and implementation activities for system releases.
- Provide regular project reporting, status updates, risk management and stakeholder communications.
Highly desirable criteria
- Previous experience delivering ICT projects within a government environment, particularly within a large and complex organisation.
- Experience managing ICT projects within a Human Resources function or similar corporate services environment.
- Demonstrated experience applying PRINCE2 methodology to successfully deliver ICT projects from initiation through to closure.
- Strong project management and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and achieve project outcomes.
- Demonstrated understanding of organisational change management practices and the ability to minimise business impacts during periods of change.
- Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills with experience resolving complex business and technology challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience engaging and negotiating with stakeholders, vendors, senior executives and public sector representatives.
- Minimum five years’ experience managing ICT projects, preferably within government.
Desirable criteria
- Current PRINCE2 Practitioner or Professional certification.
- Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience using project management tools, including EPO or similar platforms.
Skills and experience
- The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience managing ICT projects within large, complex organisations.
- Strong knowledge of project governance, reporting, risk management and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience coordinating application enhancements, maintenance activities and system improvements.
- Ability to work collaboratively across business and technical teams.
- Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Experience working within structured environments with complex stakeholder requirements.
