About the role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Windows 11 Upgrade to lead the delivery of a large-scale operating system transformation across a complex enterprise environment. This role will oversee the end-to-end planning, coordination, and implementation of the department’s upgrade to Microsoft Windows 11, ensuring a smooth and secure transition in line with organisational standards and government frameworks. You’ll be responsible for managing cross-functional teams, coordinating readiness activities, and driving deployment success across both metropolitan and regional sites.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of a department-wide Windows 11 upgrade project, ensuring alignment with ICT project management and governance frameworks.

Oversee hardware and software readiness, application compatibility testing, and deployment execution using Intune, Configuration Manager, or equivalent tools.

Manage project risks, dependencies, budgets, and timelines to ensure successful delivery outcomes.

Engage with business units, ICT teams, vendors, and change managers to ensure coordinated and efficient rollout.

Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, data governance, and asset management standards.

Prepare and present detailed project reports and updates to governance boards and steering committees.

Support user readiness, communications, and training activities to drive adoption and minimise disruption.
Skills and experience
-
Proven experience managing large-scale ICT infrastructure or operating system upgrade projects within enterprise or government settings.

Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows 10 and 11 environments, including deployment and configuration.

Knowledge of Intune architecture, hybrid environments, and endpoint management solutions.

Familiarity with cybersecurity standards (e.g., patching, SecureScore remediation, CIS Benchmarks).

Experience developing and implementing change management and communication plans for organisation-wide rollouts.

Strong vendor and stakeholder management capabilities, with excellent communication and reporting skills.

Ability to deliver projects in line with established government ICT governance and reporting frameworks.
Desirable
-
Qualifications in project management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile).

Microsoft certifications in Windows administration or system management.

Hands-on experience with software deployment tools (e.g., SCCM, Intune).

Understanding of Queensland Government ICT policies and enterprise architecture frameworks.
