About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst (EL1 equivalent) to support the delivery of complex ICT and digital initiatives within a large Australian Government environment. This role will contribute to a range of projects, including emerging technologies and digital platforms, working closely with technical teams and senior stakeholders.

This is a 12-month contract with strong extension potential, based in ACT with hybrid working arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and model current and future business processes and information management environments
• Gather, analyse and document business and user requirements, including user pathways and information flows
• Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions to elicit and validate requirements
• Develop high-quality artefacts such as business requirements, functional and non-functional specifications, process maps, user stories, service design artefacts, and reports
• Translate business needs into clear technical and functional requirements
• Conduct investigations and technical research in alignment with organisational policies and legislation
• Evaluate solution options and assess impacts across systems, teams and the broader organisation
• Work within Agile delivery teams to support the development of complex digital and ICT solutions, including website development

Highly desirable criteria

• Proven experience facilitating workshops and analysing complex information to identify business needs, inefficiencies and improvement opportunities
• Strong experience translating business requirements into technical specifications such as process maps, data models and use cases
• Demonstrated ability to develop clear and concise user stories and acceptance criteria

Desirable criteria

• Experience delivering complex digital projects within an Agile environment
• Background in implementing Information Technology Services
• Experience documenting requirements for CMS platforms such as Sitecore
• Experience using Azure DevOps for backlog and user story management
• Exposure to Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Azure Cloud and/or Google Analytics

Skills and experience

• Senior-level Business Analysis experience within ICT or digital delivery environments
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and presentation skills
• Strong documentation and analytical capability
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
• Must be able to obtain Baseline Security Clearance
