About the role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Business Analyst to support complex business and technology initiatives within a large enterprise environment. This role will suit a senior professional with strong analytical capabilities, stakeholder engagement skills, and experience delivering business analysis outcomes across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

You will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, technical teams, and delivery professionals to understand business problems, identify solution options, define requirements, and support the successful delivery of business and technology solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead business analysis activities across the full SDLC, working collaboratively with business and technology teams.
• Map and analyse business processes to identify problems, opportunities, and improvement areas.
• Elicit, analyse, document, and validate business and system requirements.
• Develop business process maps, user stories, acceptance criteria, wireframes, prototypes, and other relevant artefacts.
• Analyse business solution options and provide data-driven insights to support decision-making and cost estimation.
• Collaborate with pre-delivery teams to assess and identify viable business and technology solutions.
• Create, manage, and maintain user stories and other work items using DevOps tools.
• Facilitate stakeholder workshops, consultations, and requirements validation sessions.
• Work closely with product owners, technical teams, and delivery stakeholders to ensure requirements are clearly understood and solutions meet business needs.
• Develop and maintain business rules, data requirements, functional requirements, and non-functional requirements in line with relevant standards.
• Support user review, testing, acceptance activities, and the effective communication of business requirements throughout delivery.

Highly desirable criteria

• Demonstrated experience leading business analysis activities in a complex, enterprise-level environment.
• Strong experience working within agile delivery teams and managing requirements through DevOps toolsets.
• Proven ability to engage stakeholders, facilitate consultation, and translate complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements.
• Experience producing high-quality business and technical documentation to support solution design and delivery.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to inform business decisions.

Desirable criteria

• Previous experience working within a government agency or public sector environment.
• Experience or an interest in root cause analysis, process governance, and workaround management.
• Exposure to problem coordination, issue management, and continuous process improvement.
• Familiarity with government business processes, governance frameworks, and enterprise delivery standards.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Significant experience as a Business Analyst, Lead Business Analyst, or in a similar senior analysis role.
• Demonstrated experience working across the full SDLC in an enterprise environment.
• Strong knowledge of agile methodologies, requirements management, and iterative delivery practices.
• Experience developing business process maps, user stories, acceptance criteria, wireframes, prototypes, and related analysis artefacts.
• Proficiency in DevOps tools for managing requirements, work items, and delivery activities.
• Experience using SQL, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or similar tools to support data analysis and business insights.
• Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, communication, and documentation skills.
• The ability to analyse complex problems, identify practical solutions, and communicate findings to both business and technical audiences.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a collaborative delivery environment.
• The ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Baseline security clearance.
