About the role

Our federal government client is seeking an experienced DevSecOps Engineer to support a large-scale Information Enablement program. The role will focus on designing, deploying, integrating, maintaining, and supporting secure DevOps tooling across enterprise, cloud, and High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.

You will work closely with program managers, delivery vendors, architects, software engineers, and DevSecOps teams to support secure software development and release activities across multiple networks and operational systems.

This role is suited to someone with strong Linux, CI/CD, automation, and scripting experience who thrives in secure and mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, implement, test, and support secure DevOps tooling infrastructure and software configurations
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using YAML and Python
  • Support secure software deployment activities across enterprise, cloud, and HPC environments
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex DevSecOps tooling and integration issues
  • Work closely with architects, SMEs, developers, system administrators, and vendors to deliver project outcomes
  • Contribute to project delivery from initiation through to operational transition
  • Manage workloads and backlogs using Jira, Confluence, and ITSM tools
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across systems, standards, and processes
  • Promote ITIL Service Management practices including Incident, Problem, and Change Management
  • Act as a technical SME for DevSecOps-related issues and escalations
  • Produce technical documentation, tutorials, workshops, and training materials
  • Ensure compliance with security, governance, workplace safety, and APS standards

Highly desirable criteria

  • Experience working within secure or mission-critical environments
  • Experience supporting High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments
  • Hands-on experience with GitLab-CI and release management tooling
  • Experience with AWS and Atlassian environments
  • Exposure to AI-enabled software development efficiencies
  • Understanding of ITIL frameworks and service management processes
  • Knowledge of business intelligence and data analytics
  • Previous experience working in federal government environments

Desirable criteria

  • Degree or diploma qualification relevant to Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience preparing and delivering technical workshops, tutorials, and presentations
  • Familiarity with modern software development methodologies and agile delivery practices
  • Exposure to automated testing, version control, code reviews, and deployment automation

Skills and experience

  • Strong experience in DevSecOps engineering or similar roles
  • High-level expertise in Linux systems administration
  • Strong experience with Python and BASH scripting
  • Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using YAML
  • Experience with web services and APIs
  • Experience integrating and supporting DevOps tooling across complex enterprise environments
  • Strong understanding of software architecture and secure design principles
  • Experience with containerisation and hardened container images
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability
  • Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
