About the role
Our federal government client, is seeking a Linux Engineer to support and enhance the agency’s core infrastructure across over 650 Linux instances, working hands-on with technologies like VMware, Pure Storage, and Splunk, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, on-premise solutions that underpin critical digital services.
Key responsibilities
The Linux Engineer will work within a team accountable for the ongoing operation, management and maintenance of:
- All of the agency’s Linux instances (650+ hosts) spread mostly across Ubuntu/RHEL.
- The agency’s core IT services, including:
- Virtualisation (VMware)
- Block and file storage (Pure Storage)
- Backup (Cohesity)
- Log index/search (Splunk);
- Monitoring (Zabbix, Splunk);
- DNS (BIND);
- NTP;
- SMTP (Postfix);
- web proxying (Squid and Forcepoint/Websense);
- RSA SecurID.
The role will also be expected to
- Work in a secure on-premise environment.
- Work on business driven and internally driven projects. You will be responsible for the complete end to end process that may include; infrastructure design, procurement, racking and then all the way through to service delivery.
- Work closely with other technical teams (Development, Platforms, Networks, Windows, Service Desk) to identify and resolve issues and escalations
Essential criteria
- Extensive hands-on experience with identity and access management, including;
- Open standards
- Best practices and procedures; and
- Various software solutions.
- Design, implementation and maintenance experience with the ForgeRock product suite.
- Experience performing deployments in highly secure and highly available environments.
- Extensive experience in troubleshooting, identifying and resolving technical identity and access management related issues.
- Working knowledge of automation and Dev/Ops practices.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in continuously improving identity and access management solutions and systems for protection against evolving threats.
- The ability to work collaboratively with business-driven project teams as well as infrastructure teams.
Note position requires an NV1 in order to be able to fully perform the role. As a minimum the Department will accept applicants who are Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain an NV1.
