About the role

We are seeking a MSSQL/Database Administrator to undertake a range of activities including, but not limited to:

• Support and administration of complex MSSQL databases in cloud

• L3 infrastructure support for business applications

• Provide significant support in the design, development and implementation of MSSQL databases

• Provide support for other Azure DB offerings – e.g. COSMOS DB

Key Responsibilities

• Monitoring database and infrastructure performance and capacity. Ensuring changes are applied to the infrastructure are conducted in a secure and timely manner in adherence with the Departments IT change requirements.

• Liaising with business owners in regard with their database requirements.

• Working with project managers to ensure their projects which may include database requirements are handled efficiently and effectively.

Skills and experience

• Demonstrated experience in SQL Database administration services that includes (but not limited to):

  • “Business-as-Usual” (BAU) support

  • Update, upgrade and patching services

  • Security/access monitoring and control

  • Proactive monitoring

  • Preventative/remedial maintenance

  • Incident response and rectification

• Demonstrated experience providing support to projects including the managing the following:

  • The currency of database hardware and software

  • Database Access and security, and recovery

  • Resourcing requirements for the frameworks including:

    • The implementation of a of cloud-based solution

    • Ad hoc support outside of Core Business Hours.

• Experience providing support for Microsoft SOL databases, namely: Microsoft SQL: 2014 to SQLMI/AZURE SQL The Services are to be provided across all database environments.

• Experience working for the Federal Government with considerations to compliance with the IT security environment (ACSC Essential 8, etc.).

• Initial contract for 12 months, with possible extensions up to 24 months
