About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior .NET Developer for a long-term state government engagement based in Brisbane. The successful candidate will bring expertise in modern DevOps practices and play a pivotal role in designing and implementing build and release pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and blue/green deployment strategies within the Microsoft .NET technology stack and Azure DevOps platform.
Key responsibilities
- Implement and maintain enterprise-grade build and release pipelines within Azure DevOps.
- Design and integrate automated testing frameworks (unit, integration and functional) into CI/CD pipelines.
- Plan and execute blue/green deployment strategies to minimise downtime and reduce release risk.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Application Environments, Database Operations, DataHub and Change Management).
- Lead the development and delivery of Business Information Systems and APIs across the full SDLC.
- Optimise application performance through SQL Server tuning, .NET enhancements and Azure integration.
- Proactively review and improve DevOps and development processes.
- Provide technical leadership on Microsoft technologies to reduce complexity, improve maintainability and ensure scalability.
Highly desirable criteria
- Minimum five years’ experience in Microsoft ASP.NET development (SFIA Level 5 – PROG).
- Minimum five years’ experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2012–2022), including stored procedures, scripts and performance tuning.
- Demonstrated expert-level skills in build and release pipelines, automated testing and blue/green deployments using Azure DevOps.
Desirable criteria
- Experience working in Agile software development teams.
- Strong ability to collaborate with diverse business and technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience working within large government organisations with complex ICT environments.
- Ability to adapt to and continue work developed by others.
- Excellent communication skills and strong business acumen.

- Visual Studio 2019+
- .NET Framework 3.5–4.8.x and .NET Core
- SQL Server 2012–2022 (including SQL Azure)

- Windows Server environments
- MS Reporting Services 2016
- PingFed
Plus proven capability in:
- Testing frameworks in .NET environments
- Build and release orchestration using Azure DevOps
- Blue/green deployment strategies
