About the role

Our federal government client is looking for a Senior Network Administrator to manage and support the architecture, administration, maintenance, and security of its network and data communications infrastructure. This role plays a critical part in ensuring high-quality service delivery within a multi-client environment.
 

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise client networking and data communications services to ensure reliability and high performance.
• Manage service agreements with contracted telecommunications and networking providers.
• Oversee WAN, LAN (including wireless) networking and data communications projects, including design, implementation, testing, and review.
• Provide expert advice on network security strategies and risk management.
• Conduct security risk assessments and business impact analysis on networking resources.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams, security policies, and equipment inventory.
• Foster strong relationships with stakeholders to align operational services and service levels.
• Promote a culture that supports First Nations people and contributes to better outcomes.

Highly desirable criteria

• Strong technical expertise in enterprise infrastructure support within a purchaser/provider service delivery model.
• Ability to adapt to changing requirements and seek innovative solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with a customer-focused approach.
• Proven ability to manage and prioritise tasks efficiently.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Mandatory criteria

Certifications and experience in: 

• Juniper, Cisco, and Meraki networking platforms
• Juniper and Palo Alto firewalls
• Citrix NetScaler
• Sophos UTM and WPAD
• Network design and implementation
• MS Visio documentation
• Splunk investigation and fault finding
• Internet usage analysis, including Cloud applications
• Experience with ITIL Service Management processes, including incident, problem, change, and configuration management.
• Knowledge and experience in IT systems analysis and design (SFIA: TECH Level 5).
• Expertise in methods and tools within the technology space (SFIA: NTDS Level 6; NTAS Level 6).
• Relevant tertiary qualifications (preferred).

Skills and experience

• Extensive experience in network administration and data communication management.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills in enterprise environments.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
• Experience in security risk assessments and developing network security policies.
