About the role

Our Australian Federal Government client is seeking several full-time IT engineers with expertise in various areas such as Cisco Routing and Switching (NAC and 802.1x), Cisco ACI, and preferably experience with on-premises cloud technologies. Candidates with relevant network certifications are preferred. With an annual budget of around $408 million and a workforce of approximately 2300 staff, mainly consisting of scientists, engineers, IT specialists, and technicians, we operate across Australia, spanning almost every state and territory. As the Australian government’s primary agency dedicated to applying science and technology for national security, we are committed to providing expert advice and innovative solutions to enhance Defence and national security. Our overarching goal is to become a global leader in defence science and technology, playing an indispensable role in shaping the Australian Defence Force and safeguarding Australia’s national interests.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, manage, and support Cisco Routing and Switching, including NAC and 802.1x protocols.
• Oversee Cisco ACI infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and functionality.
• Demonstrate experience or exposure to on-premises cloud technologies, with a focus on integration and compatibility.
• Maintain relevant network certifications to stay updated with industry standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with team members to design, implement, and troubleshoot network solutions aligned with Defence requirements and objectives.

Skills and experience

• Negative Vetting 2 (NV2) ASVGA Security Clearance mandatory
• Proficient in interpersonal skills, adept at teamwork and effective communication across organisational levels.
• Skilled in customer relationship management, both internally and externally, ensuring professional and attentive interactions.
• Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication abilities, conveying complex concepts clearly and succinctly.
• Strong listening and problem-solving skills enable efficient resolution of challenges.
• Facilitates meetings effectively, guiding discussions towards productive outcomes.
• Thrives in high-pressure environments, delivering results with resilience and commitment.
• Proficient in troubleshooting complex systems, contributing to their stability and functionality.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
