About the Role

Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced Senior Storage. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, administering, optimising, and supporting enterprise storage infrastructure across a large and complex ICT environment.

You will play a key role in managing the department’s storage platforms, Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure, backup and recovery solutions, and virtualised storage environments. You will also contribute to the future direction of the department’s infrastructure by evaluating emerging technologies, producing technical documentation, and mentoring junior engineers.

This position forms part of the Infrastructure team, which is responsible for the management of enterprise data centres, server hosts, virtualisation, automation, storage, backup and recovery services. Participation in an after-hours on-call support roster is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, configure, administer, optimise, and troubleshoot enterprise storage infrastructure.
• Manage physical and virtual storage environments across the department.
• Deploy, configure, and administer Storage Area Network (SAN) switches.
• Monitor, tune, and maintain storage platforms to ensure high availability and performance.
• Support enterprise backup and recovery capabilities.
• Evaluate emerging storage technologies and contribute to future infrastructure strategy.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation including:
• Solution design documents
• Build documentation
• Operational procedures
• Handover documentation
• Share technical knowledge across the team.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers.
• Participate in the team’s after-hours on-call support roster.

Highly desirable criteria

• Demonstrated hands-on experience designing, administering, tuning, and troubleshooting one or more of the following enterprise storage platforms:
  • HPE 3PAR
  • HPE Primera
  • HPE Alletra Storage Systems
  • NetApp E-Series
  • Dell Data Domain
  • Brocade Fibre Channel Fabric Switches
  • SANnav
  • Scality Artesca
• Strong experience with Veeam Backup and Replication.
• Experience working within large, complex enterprise or government ICT environments.
• Knowledge of modern storage technologies, virtualisation, and enterprise infrastructure best practices.

Desirable criteria

• Experience contributing to storage architecture and infrastructure roadmaps.
• Experience evaluating and implementing emerging storage technologies.
• Previous experience mentoring or coaching junior infrastructure engineers.
• Experience working within ITIL or operational support environments.
• Experience supporting enterprise data centre infrastructure.

Skills and experience

• Extensive experience in enterprise storage engineering and administration.
• Strong understanding of SAN architecture, storage optimisation, and performance tuning.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex storage and infrastructure issues.
• Experience producing clear technical documentation including design, build, and operational documentation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.
• Ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise backup and recovery solutions.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within a highly skilled technical team.
