About the role

Our federal government client is looking for a Senior Test Analyst. The role will be responsible for the design, development and delivery of data testing activities across several data movement and transformation processes.
 

Key responsibilities

• Testing various Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) and Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) processes on the department’s Azure data and analytics platform.
• Utilising expert level knowledge of best testing practices to uplift capability maturity.
• Developing test templates and artefacts for use in project documentation and reporting.
• Ensuring adequate test coverage including exploratory testing.
• Conducting defect management, including defect tracking, issue resolution, and signoffs.
• Creating and presenting test reports to stakeholders.
• Be responsive, flexible, and work collaboratively as part of an agile team.
• Create and maintain test frameworks and strategies.
• Sharing outcomes, knowledge and experience with other test analysts in the section.
• Act as technical escalation point.
• Provide technical support in the development of test deliverables.
• Assisting project teams towards achieving testing objectives that align with departmental, divisional, and sectional priorities, employing both agile and waterfall methodologies.
• Strong relationship building, communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Training and mentoring junior testers through regular quality reviews and constructive feedback on industry best practices.
   

Essential criteria

• Experience as a Data Test Engineer. In your response, tell us how you have applied tools and techniques to validate large or complex ETL/ELT processes, particularly within a Cloud platform.
• SQL skills and relational database experience. In your response, tell us what types of databases you have worked with and how you tailored your validation/quality assurance testing activities to ensure the quality and reliability of data pipelines, data integrations, and analytics solutions.
• Experience in designing, implementing and maintaining data-focused testing artefacts? How did you ensure your artefacts aligned with the development team’s delivery method and/or end-user requirements?
• Experience working independently in complex situations where you needed to learn things quickly and use creative problem-solving?
• Experience in the capability uplift of others? This could include training, coaching, paired learning and/or participating in activities that promote upskilling and continuous improvement.
   

Desirable criteria

• Demonstrated experience working within the Australian Public Service framework at a Federal level.
• Experience with data analytics, including data modelling and data management.
• Experience working with Cloud platforms using technology such as Azure and/or D365.
