About the role
This is a contract Solution Architect role focused on leading the design and delivery of architecture for a digital health integration project. The position involves providing technical and strategic leadership to ensure that solutions are robust, secure, interoperable, and aligned with broader digital transformation goals. The successful candidate will collaborate with business, clinical, and technical stakeholders to support the seamless exchange of information across platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and technical design activities for a complex integration project.
- Define architecture standards, patterns, and frameworks to support solution delivery.
- Ensure scalability, security, and interoperability across systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align solutions with business needs.
- Assess architectural risks and conduct impact analysis.
- Support delivery in line with agreed project governance and standards.
- Communicate architectural concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Highly desirable criteria
- Experience with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7, CDA, and FHIR.
- Familiarity with identity and authentication mechanisms (e.g. NASH).
- Prior work with national health platforms or integration products.
- Knowledge of containerisation using Docker.
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with middleware technologies like ActiveMQ.
Desirable criteria
- Open ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
- Willingness to travel if required.
- Experience working in large public sector or enterprise environments.
Skills and experience
- Proven background in developing solution architectures for large-scale ICT projects.
- Strong knowledge of cloud principles including security, automation, and scalability.
- Experience in one or more architectural domains (Application, Information, Infrastructure, Security, or Network).
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with project and change management methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
