About the role

Our federal government client is looking for multiple APS6 equivalent System Administrators to join their organisation. Successful candidates will be required to complete an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) either prior to commencement or within 12 months of starting, as determined by the assigned work area.
 

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine installations and de-installations of hardware and software following organisational policies and procedures.
• Provide expert guidance to colleagues to ensure optimal asset utilization and service maintenance.
• Work collaboratively within teams to develop solutions for non-routine or contingency situations.
• Design and implement solutions addressing operational challenges.
• Resolve unpredictable issues by adhering to established policies and procedures.
• Lead installation projects, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.
• Build and sustain effective working relationships within teams and contribute to group activities.

Highly desirable criteria

• Holds a Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Proficient in operating systems, networking, database management, and security protocols.
• Experienced in installing, repairing, and maintaining network systems.
• Knowledgeable in programming languages.

Essential criteria

• IT infrastructure (ITOP 4 – SFIA Level 4): Technical expertise in operational procedures, infrastructure maintenance, and automation.
• Systems design (DESN 4 – SFIA Level 4): Experience in designing system components using modelling techniques and methodologies.
• Systems installation and removal (HSIN 3 – SFIA Level 3): Experience in installing or removing hardware/software and troubleshooting issues.
• System software (SYSP 4 – SFIA Level 4): Monitoring system software metrics, configuring software for optimal performance, and troubleshooting issues.
