About the role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst to join a complex technology program focused on asset management, systems integration, data migration and operational readiness.

This is a 9-month contract opportunity, with the potential for extension, offering the chance to work across interconnected systems, data and business processes in a fast-paced delivery environment.

The role will focus on establishing clear requirements, analysing current and future-state processes, supporting system integration and data migration activities, and working closely with business, technical, vendor and delivery stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the elicitation, analysis, documentation, validation and stakeholder agreement of business, functional, data, integration and non-functional requirements.

• Analyse current and future-state asset management processes and develop process models, system context views, information flows, use cases, user stories and acceptance criteria.

• Define and document functional, data and system-of-record boundaries across interconnected systems.

• Develop integration requirements covering data content, data flows, validation, reconciliation, error handling, audit, security and monitoring.

• Support analysis of APIs, interfaces and system-to-system data flows.

• Develop source-to-target mappings, business rules, data definitions, quality rules and data migration requirements.

• Support migration and reconciliation of data from legacy and transitional systems.

• Identify and resolve requirements gaps, conflicting needs, dependencies and delivery risks.

• Maintain traceability from business requirements through design, configuration, integration, migration, testing and acceptance.

• Facilitate workshops with business, technical, vendor and delivery stakeholders to gather requirements, resolve issues and support solution delivery.

• Contribute to testing, transition, support and operational readiness activities.

Highly desirable criteria

• Experience in a regulated, safety-critical or public-sector operational environment, such as transport, road safety, enforcement, justice or compliance.

• Experience delivering or integrating asset management, enterprise asset management or maintenance management solutions.

• Experience with commercial off-the-shelf asset management platforms such as Hardcat or similar products.

• Strong experience defining requirements for APIs, system interfaces, data synchronisation and integration monitoring.

• Experience delivering complex data migration involving asset, device, location, maintenance, calibration, compliance or operational-readiness data.

• Experience working with external software vendors, implementation partners or managed service providers.

• Experience working in an Agile delivery environment, including backlog refinement, Program Increment planning and release planning.

Desirable criteria

• Relevant tertiary qualification or professional certification in Business Analysis, Information Technology, Data or a related discipline.

• Experience working across complex enterprise technology environments involving multiple systems and data sources.

• Experience with data governance, data quality, reconciliation and information management practices.

• Experience supporting operational readiness, transition and implementation activities.

Skills and experience

• Demonstrated experience as a Technical Business Analyst or Business Analyst delivering complex technology projects involving interconnected systems, data and business processes.

• Strong experience defining clear, structured and testable business, functional, data and integration requirements.

• Strong understanding of data mapping, validation, reconciliation, exception handling and data quality.

• Ability to establish and drive requirements in ambiguous and fast-paced delivery environments.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify gaps, dependencies and risks.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across business, technical, vendor and delivery teams.

• Strong workshop facilitation, documentation and requirements management skills.

• Ability to maintain end-to-end requirements traceability throughout the delivery lifecycle.

• Strong understanding of systems integration, APIs, data flows and business processes.
