Overview
Our commercial client is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager for an initial 24-month contract to oversee and manage the successful execution of IT projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. The role requires expertise in project management methodologies and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to meet business objectives. The IT Project Manager will coordinate all project activities, manage resources, and ensure that project goals align with organizational strategies and priorities.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic advice and lead projects to develop policy, influence direction and organisational practices and procedures and operational outcomes defining scope, goals, and deliverables, and developing detailed plans with timelines, milestones, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery.
- Analyse data to positively challenge and negotiate perspectives on complex and strategic issues to deliver outcome and make recommendation.
- Supervise a project team to undertaking detailed analysis on alternative courses of action to determine organisational and operational requirements, allocate resources effectively, and facilitate collaboration through meetings and reviews.
- Develop strategies to provide sound advice throughout the project life-cycle to improve organisational performance and meet deliverables by undertaking high level reviews / investigations as identified and ensure quality control, adhere to industry best practices.
- Ensure risk management practices are followed throughout the project through testing and validation processes.
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with the BCE Project Delivery Framework, provide regular updates and reports to stakeholders, and capture lessons learned for future projects.
- Establish, build and maintain internal and external relationships to share professional knowledge and expertise to deliver on project and business outcomes by communicating project status, issues, and risks to stakeholders, serving as the primary point of contact between technical teams and business stakeholders, while ensuring alignment across departments.
- Build and maintain relationships with third-party vendors, ensuring contracts are negotiated and executed effectively. Oversee procurement processes, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services within budget, and monitor vendor performance to ensure quality, compliance, and alignment with project objectives.
- Work in partnership with school-based role holders and leadership teams across area of specialty.
- Create and manage project budgets, monitor expenditures, and optimise resource allocation to stay within budget.
- Drive process improvements in project management and stay updated on new technologies and practices.
Skills
- Tertiary qualifications in a related field and/or previous experience in a similar position would be highly regarded but not essential.
- 5 year+ proven experience as an IT Project Manager or in a similar role.
- Recognised project management qualification (such as CAPM, PMP, MSP, MoP, PMBOK, PRINCE2)
- Strong understanding of IT systems, infrastructure, and software development processes.
- Proficiency in project management tools and knowledge of industry frameworks
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects/workstreams and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in managing cross-functional teams and large-scale IT projects.
- Knowledge of AI, cloud technologies, software development lifecycle (SDLC), or IT infrastructure management.
