Overview
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Test Analyst to join a Queensland Government department delivering business-critical digital initiatives that support communities across the state.
Working within a collaborative project team, you will play a key role in ensuring software solutions are thoroughly tested, fit for purpose and meet high quality standards before deployment. This is an excellent opportunity for a testing professional who enjoys hands-on testing, working closely with stakeholders and contributing to the successful delivery of enterprise technology projects.
About the Role
As a Test Analyst, you will be responsible for planning, designing, executing and reporting on testing activities throughout the software development lifecycle. Working alongside Business Analysts, Developers, Product Owners and Project Managers, you will ensure solutions meet business requirements while maintaining a strong focus on quality, traceability and defect management.
The successful candidate will have excellent analytical skills, a keen eye for detail and the ability to quickly understand complex business processes and enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain test strategies, test plans and test cases aligned with project requirements.
- Execute both manual and automated testing across all stages of the project lifecycle.
- Ensure complete traceability between business requirements, user stories and test cases.
- Identify, document, prioritise and manage software defects through to resolution.
- Develop Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) test scripts and scenarios.
- Validate system functionality, integrations and business processes.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and defect resolution.
- Produce clear testing documentation, progress reports and quality metrics.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and quality assurance practices.
- Support successful project delivery by ensuring solutions meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
Highly Desirable Criteria
- Demonstrated experience in software testing using recognised testing methodologies, standards and quality assurance practices.
- Proven experience developing and executing comprehensive manual and automated test plans.
- Strong capability in creating test scenarios, scripts and test cases from business and functional requirements.
- Experience ensuring complete test coverage and requirements traceability.
- Strong defect management and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience preparing and executing Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) test scripts.
- Proficiency with Azure DevOps and Atlassian Jira.
- Experience working within Agile and/or hybrid project delivery environments.
- Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to quickly understand complex business processes and enterprise applications.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience working within the Queensland Government.
- Experience supporting enterprise application or digital transformation programs.
- Exposure to automated testing frameworks and modern testing practices.
