About the role

A large government organisation is seeking a Principal Developer to support the enhancement, maintenance and optimisation of key revenue management and digital service platforms.

These platforms support critical business operations and must operate securely, reliably, and in line with legislative, policy and audit requirements.

The role will focus on delivering practical development outcomes that improve system capability, support business operations, and provide maintainable solutions for long-term internal support.

The successful candidate will work across the full delivery lifecycle including solution design, development, testing support, documentation, release support, and handover activities within a SAP environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, configure and enhance SAP application components, services and interfaces
• Modernise and refactor existing communication-related components to align with current platform and integration requirements
• Deliver data uplift activities including ingestion and processing of external and third-party data sources
• Refactor or replace legacy application components in line with the delivery roadmap
• Deliver planned enhancements and new features across customer-facing and internal service channels
• Enhance online services to improve usability, performance and supportability
• Resolve defects identified through testing and support release activities
• Develop reports, data models and related technical artefacts
• Produce clear technical documentation
• Support knowledge transfer and handover to internal teams
• Collaborate with SAP functional analysts and business analysts to deliver solution designs

Highly desirable criteria

• ABAP Web Dynpro development experience
• SAP Fiori development experience
• Adobe Forms development experience
• BRF+ (Business Rules Framework) development experience
• SAP custom solution development experience within SAP Public Sector Collections and Disbursements
• SAP Financial Accounting or S/4HANA experience
• SAP PI development experience

Desirable criteria

• Experience working within complex enterprise or government environments
• Experience supporting customer-facing digital service platforms
• Exposure to cloud-native deployments and modern SAP integration approaches
• Skills and experience
• Strong technical background in SAP solution gap analysis
• Extensive SAP custom development experience across multiple SAP frameworks
• Experience with SAP enhancements, data migrations and integration development
• Strong ABAP development skills including OO ABAP and RAP
• Experience with user interface development, CDS views, OData services and forms
• Hands-on experience delivering enterprise solutions across SAP Business Technology Platform (Cloud Foundry), REST APIs and cloud-native deployments
• Demonstrated experience delivering multiple end-to-end SAP implementations
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical and business stakeholders
