Overview

An exciting permanent opportunity is available for an experienced Coordinator ICT Operations to join a progressive Queensland local government organisation. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing ICT operations, business systems and service delivery while driving continuous improvement, cyber security, infrastructure resilience and strategic technology initiatives.

Leading a dedicated ICT Operations team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring reliable, secure and customer-focused technology services that support the organisation and the community.
 

About the Role

As the Coordinator ICT Operations, you will lead the day-to-day management of ICT infrastructure, enterprise applications and service desk operations across a hybrid technology environment. You will be responsible for maintaining operational excellence while delivering infrastructure projects, managing vendors, strengthening cyber security and contributing to the delivery of the ICT Strategic Plan.

This role combines operational leadership with strategic planning and is ideal for an experienced ICT professional who enjoys leading teams, improving services and delivering technology outcomes that make a tangible impact.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery and ongoing support of ICT infrastructure, business systems and service desk operations.

• Manage a hybrid ICT environment, including servers, networks, unified communications and end-user devices.

• Oversee enterprise business applications, including ERP and corporate systems.

• Coordinate incident management, service requests, change control and release management activities.

• Manage infrastructure lifecycle activities, including upgrades, patching, asset management and system performance monitoring.

• Lead cyber security initiatives, including vulnerability management, access governance, monitoring and incident response.

• Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives across ICT operations and service delivery.

• Deliver infrastructure projects aligned with organisational objectives, budgets and timelines.

• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external vendors and technology partners.

• Lead, mentor and develop the ICT Operations team while fostering a collaborative and customer-focused culture.

• Contribute to ICT strategy, policy development and the adoption of emerging technologies.

Highly Desirable Criteria

• Demonstrated experience leading ICT operations within a large and complex multi-site environment.

• Strong leadership experience across ICT infrastructure, business systems and service desk functions.

• Proven experience delivering ICT infrastructure projects and operational improvements.

• Strong understanding of cyber security principles, governance and operational resilience.

• Experience managing vendors, suppliers and external service providers.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and people leadership skills.

• Demonstrated experience managing operational budgets, ICT assets and service performance.

• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and IT service management best practices.

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.

Desirable Criteria

• ITIL certification or willingness to obtain certification.

• Experience with enterprise ERP platforms, GIS solutions and hybrid ICT environments.

• Knowledge of local government or other public sector technology environments.

• Experience developing ICT strategies, policies and continuous improvement initiatives.
